While working on projects late one evening, Wulfric meets a new friend.
Deep in thought, Wulfric stared at the wool sorter in front of him. Something looked off but he couldn't figure out why? Maybe the stone brick stairs? Maybe a different type of wood would look better? He hem'd to himself and paced back and forth.
"Hrm?" Wulfric sat up as he heard a noise from the ground floor. He looked at the clock upon the wall. Almost time for bed. Wow, I spent all day down here... He rubbed his jawline with his knuckles. "Hrrm, hrm!" There it was again!
Wulfric ascended the ladder and padded to the door. Kicking himself for putting down a door with no windows, he creaked the door open and peered out. Standing at the door was a wandering trader. Wulfric could hear the llamas tied up somewhere nearby.
"Hrr-hrr!" The wandering trader said, peeking back to look at the dwindling sunlight. "Hrrm-hrrm hrr hrm?"
"Oh, um, sure. Come on in..." Wulfric stepped away from the door and allowed the villager to make his way inside. "I've got some food in here, if you're hungry. Do you like pork?"
The wandering trader shook his head. "Hrrr, hrm? Hrr-hrr hrm."
"Oh yeah, I always carry some steak on me. Here you are." Wulfric reached into his inventory and pulled out a steak for the trader. Grabbing one for himself as well, he sat on the bed tucked into the corner and patted for the stranger to take a seat. The wandering trader sat next to Wulfric and scarfed down the steak like a rabid wolf.
Wulfric was only halfway done with his when he noticed. "Hey, hey, slow down, man! You're gonna give yourself a stomachache. When was the last time you ate?"
The trader cocked his unibrow and sat for a moment. "Hrm." he replied.
"Wow, that long? If you want more steak, I've got plenty." The wandering trader nodded and eagerly grabbed another chunk of meat. "I guess you've been traveling for a while. Why don't you stay here for a while and relax?"
Another moment of silence, and then a response. The wandering trader shook his head head. "Hr-hrm, Hrm hrrm hrr."
"Oh, that's too bad. Well, if you at least wanna hang around tonight, you can take this bed, here. Don't worry, I can make another one." Wulfric smiled, and the wandering trader smiled back. He stood up to grab the wool for another bed. "Oh, um, by the way, Mr. Trader, do you have a name I can call you? Maybe something we'll see each other again, somehow."
"Hrm-hrm 'Hrr-Aam'."
"It's nice to meet you Hrr-Aam. I'm Wulfric. Now, we should probably get some sleep. I'm exhausted." Wulfric said, placing his bed down.
"Hrr-hr." Hrr-Aam agreed.
